Last day in 2008

This morning Preston and Naomi wanted to get out the mega blocks. It started with building towers and bridges and such and ended up with Naomi dumping the blocks out and climbing in the wagon. Preston pulling her down the hall and stacking as many cars on top of her as possible. She smiled the whole time. Oh the things they come up with.

Graber Christmas in Topeka

We spent the day on Saturday celebrating Christmas with Josh's side. It is much different with 10 kids and soon to be 12 kids. Our nephew, Walker has strep so he couldn't be with us. Preston and Naomi love playing in the basement at Grandpa's because there are so many different toys, kids and a little exercise trampoline to jump on. We took the Wii and so that was entertainment for a few hours as well. Grandpas always reads the Christmas story to the kids. I think this is a priceless pic above with all the kids sitting for story time.

Family Christmas

We woke up and I tried a new sticky bun recipe for breakfast. It was good but made a lot for us. Preston loved them, Naomi wanted nothing to do with them. We made a fire and read the Christmas story from Luke 2 in the bible. Preston did a pretty good job of telling us things that happened in the story when we asked him. He has been learning about it in his Sunday class and we have been reading stories at home too. I told him we would maybe have cupcakes for Jesus' birthday but we had so many sweets that we didn't. I was amazed that that was one thing he actually forgot. He never forgets anything. We opened our gifts from each other and from Ninny and Pops, Great grandma and papa and that was our day. Playing with each thing for a little bit and moving on to the next thing then going back to the first thing....over and over. Preston really understood it this year.

Back track, on Christmas eve at the church service the kids could go up and sing. Preston went up but didn't sing a word. I think he got scared. He stood there with his finger in his mouth. First time for everything. He was going to sing Ring those Bells and Away in a Manger and has sang them many times since.

This is a pic of a sucker that santa brought. It is quiet large. They have only enjoyed it one time so far. MESSY! but Fun!

More to add

We had Christmas with my brother's family and my mom on Christmas eve. We had spiral ham and some yummy sides. Preston wanted to play Santa and deliver all the presents. He was really excited. Naomi had no trouble opening hers. She got a little doll and a stroller and cabbage patch and has been pushing it around the house. She gets frustrated when she can't get the doll's pacifier to stay in her mouth so she either throws it down on the ground or brings it to us grunting until we help her. Preston got some Lincoln logs. We laid them down for a nap and when we went up to get them Preston was playing quietly in the living room with his lincoln logs. I guess he just couldn't wait to play with them. Just today he asked to wear his pants that he got for Christmas (from Grandma) little did he know he just wore them yesterday so they were dirty. It cracks me up the things they remember.

Catching up

I need to catch up from the Christmas season. Preston got a Thomas Tunnel for Christmas and the kids loved playing in it. We had to put it away for a while though because they were starting to try to drive it into things and it was an accident waiting to happen.

Josh and I went out on a date for our 6th anniversary. WE had a nice time going to dinner and a movie. We went into Macy's and found Naomi's Christmas dress on clearance. Isn't she so cute and innocent standing by the tree in it.

Snow

Today we got to play in the snow. It snowed about an inch and so Preston wanted to go play in it. Naomi wasn't so sure about it and so she was held the whole time. Preston threw snowballs, ate the snow and made a snow angel. He thought it was great fun. He was very happy that he had a red hat and mittens that I got for him too. We played with our friends Joy and Caleb and that made it even more fun.
